Yes, the body stores vitamin b12

Great question my friend. The answer is yes, your body does store b12. In fact, some studies indicate that it can store up to 5 years worth. Certainly nothing conclusive here, but my point is that science actually shows it.
Now. There are many factors that come into play here. Of course, you diet is by far the biggest. I'm certainly not a doctor, but as far as all the research I've done I've found it to be quite rare to develop a deficiency if you are a meat eater.
For strict vegans, it's much more likely to develop a b12 deficiency. Time just depends on when they became vegan and how much b12 was stored in their system at the time. Once again though, still quite rare among those who take proper supplementation and are eating right.
