What
do the Workout Routines of Top Athletes, Bodybuilders
and Models Have in Common that Will Ignite Your Fat Burning Potential?
Best Workout Routines?
A question that those looking
to
lose weight and tone their bodies have agonized over. In an
attempt to find the best
workout routines people have drawn many different conclusions.
- Some say that
is the best because runners are thin.
- Others
contend that lifting
weights is the answer because bodybuilders have little body fat.
- For
others it's swimming, biking, dancing or something else.
There are so many conflicting
opinions about the best routines it's easy to see why people get
confused. You have probably noticed that the vast
majority of opinions turn into arguments over just what is the single
"best exercise."
I would agree that running, weight lifting,
swimming, biking and dancing are all good
exercises for weight loss, but one exercise alone does not make up the
best routine. There are world class runners,
fitness models, dancers, swimmers, bodybuilders, and athletes of all
kind. Guess what? They all
have very little body fat.
A little secret...The runners don't just run and
the models don't just lift weights. They do both! (Ever
wonder how fitness models get that flat, tone stomach)
Why? To answer this, why not look at
the most important aspect of weight loss...Diet!
The
best weight loss diet
consists of a variety of healthy foods. I can lose
weight by eating fruit alone,
but my results are not going to be nearly as good as if I eat fruit,
vegetables and grains.
It is the same way with workout
routines. I can run alone and lose weight, but my results are not going
to be nearly as good as if I run and lift weights. The best workout
routines combine
both aerobic forms of exercise
and anaerobic forms of exercise. Programs
that combine several different elements tend to be more sustainable,
providing for better weight loss results.
Many people have promoted
aerobic exercise alone for weight loss. They support this by indicating
the large amount of
calories burned by aerobic exercises. I agree that these exercises are
great for burning calories, but aerobic alone does very little for
muscle development.
"Why
do I need muscle
development?"
Because muscle burns more
calories than fat. If you are overweight chances are
you have low muscle mass. Without the muscle you will have a very
difficult time experiencing the results you desire. This is
what makes
anaerobic
exercises, such as lifting weights, that promote strength and muscle
growth so important.
You will experience optimal
weight loss and body definition with workout routines that combine both
aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Additional
