#1 Reason For A Weight Loss Plateau

Here's a weight loss story that I'm sure most dieters can relate too....

A friend of mine walks into my office (we'll call her Abby) the other day with a distraught look on her face.  "What's wrong I asked?"

"I have hit the wall!  I can't do this any more!" She proclaimed.

She had started her weight loss journey so fired up and she was losing weight very quickly, but why had her results suddenly become non-existent?  She was doing everything right...
  • She ate the right food
  • She disciplined her eating habits
  • She exercised
So what was going on?

Chances are you have come to believe that hitting a plateau is just a normal, inevitable occurrence when it comes to losing weight? That sooner or later you're going to "hit the wall" and it will be a struggle from there.

There is some truth to that belief...During the weight loss process the weight seems to come off easier at some times and harder at others.  However, the weight should still come off.  What would cause someone to hit a wall?

Back to our story...

It's true that Abby was doing everything right, she just wasn't doing it all of the time.  You see, as often happens we start a weight loss program all fired up. We stick to it for the first couple of weeks, but then something happens...We begin to slide, don't we? WE ARE NOT CONSISTENT!

This was the case with Abby.  Abby had begun to let her diet slide. One day she found she was short on time for her lunch break.  She did what most of us do and hit the drive through.  She did it once and noticed that it didn't hurt anything and soon enough she was doing it a few times a week.

Does this describe you?

The #1 cause of a weight loss plateau is inconsistency!

Now there is an exception to this rule.  The exception is fad diets...If you are a dieter you will hit a plateau guaranteed!  Going on any one of the major fads, the Atkins, Zone, South Beach will produce a plateau because they do not have the correct weight loss fundamentals.

However, if you're consistent with the fundamentals, your chances of hitting a plateau are very slim.

We addressed Abby's consistency and she went on to reach her weight loss goal.
