The
Starvation Diet Myth
So
you're
thinking of a starvation diet?
You need to know that everyone who has tried to
lose weight
by starving
themselves has failed in the long run.
So many who are desperate to lose weight are led to
believe that
severely restricting calories is the answer. They
don't understand what happens when you starve yourself. When
you starve yourself your body does something quite remarkable, it
begins to ration everything that you eat. This means that it will use
the absolute minimum amount of the food you eat and store the rest.
Your body is able to ration food on a starvation
diet by slowing
down the metabolism. You actually
begin to burn calories slower. This is your body's way of doing
whatever it can to keep you alive!
"So
how does all of this affect my weight loss?"
It's true that creating a calorie deficit in your
body will
cause you
to lose weight, but as everything seems wonderful
on the outside something is happening on the inside
You
can't sustain a calorie restricted diet without severely
impacting
your health. Eventually you will have to eat or your body will
begin to shut down. In all actuality your body will begin to shut down
much sooner than you think. The first sign is fatigue. Once you reach
this point you are stuck.
You must eat or risk
even greater harm to your body. When you do eat,
it is like throwing wood on a fire without a flame...Because you have
created a ration state in your body, your
body will
store everything you eat, and with a slowed metabolism,
you will burn off very few calories. This is why, in most
cases, people who starve themselves to lose weight end up far more
overweight than they ever were!
