No
Goal
Weight, No Weight Loss... Period!
Do
you know your goal weight?
The weight that you
desire to achieve?
The exact number that sends a
surge of joy through your veins every time you imagine that it were
true?
Or are you one of the majority who simply
says... "I need to drop a few pounds" ... and then proceeds blindly to
try to lose some weight?
Sorry to burst your
bubble...
... But if you try to shed the flab
without having an exact, definite goal weight in mind, your chances of
success are slim and none.
You step up to the line
with a dart in your hand. Your chief task... to hit the bullseye.
But
wait... what's this. There is no bullseye!
You're
gonna have a tough time hitting it if it ain't there.
Look.
You can't hit a target if it doesn't exist!
Too many
people forget this.
They simply run out and attempt
to "lose a few". But here's the ultimate question: How will
you know when you've lost enough?
And don't say
you'll just know. You won't.
You measure weight loss
success in pounds (Or an equivalent weight measure for my
foreign friends).
Too many people simply start a
weight loss program and say silly little things like... "oh I did so
good today, I didn't eat that brownie."
Ya, you
didn't eat the brownie... but did you lose any weight?
It's
time to get real here folks.
The only way to tell if
you're losing any weight is by measuring in pounds.
So
if you're serious about losing weight... and losing it fast, then first
thing you need to do is set your goal weight... period!
Here
are three very important points to remember when setting your goal...
1.
Make sure it's a number that excites
you.
The reason?
Simple.
If
you really want to get down to a goal weight of 135 pounds, but you set
your goal weight at 147 pounds... then you probably aren't going to be
very motivated.
The key is to have a target weight
that excites you.
Go ahead and remove the limits.
Here's
what I mean:
If you remember some time ten years ago
when you weighed 135 pounds and it excites you to think about that
time, then why not go for it?
2. Set a deadline.
If
you simply say you want to get down to 135 pounds but don't set a date,
then it will be far too easy for you to put it off.
Now
I'm the last guy that you will ever hear telling you what's possible
and what's not. Especially with the massive amounts of weight
that I've seen people lose in very short amounts of time.
But,
if you need to lose 50 pounds... you're probably not gonna lose it in 5
days!
Point being... use a little bit of common
sense. Weight loss is a process. Enjoy the ride!
3.
Visualize that goal weight every single day.
Perhaps
the greatest determining factor of the most amazing slim-down stories
was that the person was able to stay motivated.
Visualizing
your goal weight each and every day will allow you to do
this. Especially if that goal weight sends surges of joy
racing through your veins every time you think about it.
Get
a mental picture of you at your target weight. Are you at the
beach? Are you strutting your stuff in those sexy pair of
jeans. You need to see it and feel the excitement.
And you need to do it every day.
You're mind is
really quite amazing.
It tends to steer it's way
toward whatever you continuously focus on. And no this is not
metaphysical bull. Studies have actually shown this to be
true.
So please take note:
If you
are continuously focusing on how much fat you have caked to your
stomach... STOP! You just may steer yourself into more.
Instead
focus on your gorgeous, sexy weight. You will stand a much
better chance of hitting it.
