Avoiding Exercise "Burn-Out"

When searching for exercise programs for weight loss it is important to choose a program that you can do without getting burned out.

Many people set a weight loss goal and then in the excitement that ensues, choose a weight loss program that is too difficult for them to sustain.  Such individuals will typically exercise hard for six, even seven days a week and quickly discover that they are just plain "burned out". Their motivation disappears and they are left scratching their heads.

Over-training not only leads to boredom, it also leads to undesirable weight loss results. An over trained body does not shed pounds efficiently. That's right, your body can actually be too tired to lose weight!

So how do you find exercise programs for weight loss that won't produce burn out?

Fun Comes First
You will experience far better results with a program that you thoroughly enjoy than one that you despise. People typically become uninterested in programs that do not contain a variety of different elements. Choose programs that contain some weight training, some cardiovascular training and even some fun activities...Like athletics. Remember, lack of fun is the biggest reason people quit.

Easier Can be Better
Choose a program that has short training sessions in which you do not over exert yourself. You can always increase the difficulty as you feel it is time. This does not mean that you should choose a program that does not challenge you. Simply keep it in perspective. You will experience better results choosing a program that can be sustained over time.

Rest is Important
Don't underestimate the fact that your body needs time to recover. The best exercise programs for weight loss provide adequate recovery time by allowing time-off between training sessions.
