| Empty
Calories - AKA Fat Fuel
What's
wrong
with empty calories?
If you are concerned about your weight, everything!
These calories are called empty because they have no
nutritional value.
Perhaps
the most notable affect that the consumption of these calories has is
that of making you fat.
The consumption of empty
calories is at an all-time high. Go into
nearly every grocery store these days and you will find them in
abundance. They are found in nearly all processed food. Scary, given
that nearly all food found at the grocery store is processed...
You
are most likely eating your share of these fat producing culprits.
They include things like refined sugar (commonly called high fructose
corn syrup), white flour, processed fat, food additives and
preservatives. Go into your cupboards and pull out the first
food item you can find
that has a food label and read it. It is basically
a list loaded with empty calories. Chances are the food contains high
fructose corn syrup, a processed sugar made from
corn. This form of refined
sugar will most certainly make you fat and
will cause other health conditions if used in excess.
It's not just the food with ingredient labels
however, alcoholic
beverages are also loaded with empty calories. If
you are trying to lose weight, eliminating alcohol from your
diet will have a tremendously positive
affect.
A list of all empty calories
would
be very extensive. The easiest way
to avoid them
is to eliminate
the processed food in your diet. This can be a
challenge, but it is well worth your effort.
