Calories
in Sugar Will
the
calories in sugar make you fat?
It depends...What kind of
sugar are you consuming?
Sugar comes in two forms...
- Natural (not touched by man)
- Refined
(altered by man)
Natural sugar is
beneficial
in many ways. It is found in things like fruits
and vegetables and
promotes a healthy body.
Sugar that has been
refined is dangerous. Refined sugar is found in most every
manufactured food and is nothing more than empty
calories. The continuous
consumption of refined sugar is at the source of the obesity problem.
An excess intake of refined sugar eventually affects every organ in the
body. Initially it is stored in the liver in the form of glucose. But
the liver has a limited capacity and a continued consumption of refined
sugar soon makes the liver expand. When the liver can hold no more, the
excess glucose is returned to the blood in the form of fatty acids.
These
fatty acids are
typically stored in the most inactive areas...The belly (spare tire
region), the buttocks, and the thighs.
Have
you ever noticed
that
overweight men carry large "spare tires" around the midsection and
women who are overweight tend to be big in the hips and thighs? You can
bet that refined sugar consumption is at the source of their problem
areas... Most of the foods you
buy at
the super market, restaurants and especially fast food places are
loaded with refined sugar. Just read the labels. You may be surprised
to know that nearly every food contains a refined sugar, typically
called high fructose corn syrup (There are many other names for refined
sugar.) Do you use sugar with your
morning coffee? On your cereal? Do you drink diet or regular soda (both
are terrible)? All important questions if you
want to lose weight and are concerned about your health. Refined sugar
is absolutely not necessary. Eliminate it from your
diet and you will notice a positive result.
