There
are between 200 and 270 calories in hamburger, depending on the cut...
and if you need to lose weight it's absolutely fantastic.
Here's
why. Protein.
Science proves that protein
is a tremendous fat burner.
But that's not it.
Hamburger also contains fat. I will explain why
this is important in a second.
Basically there are
three types of hamburger you can purchase...
1.
Ground from sirloin (leanest cut, about 5% or less fat, about 200 cals
per 4 oz)
2. Ground from round (2nd leanest, about
10% fat, about 240 cals per 4 oz)
3. Ground from
chuck (fattiest cut, about 20% fat, about 270 cals per 4 oz)
There
are exception to those cuts, but they give you a pretty good idea of
calorie content.
Hark unto me. Listen.
A lot of calorie counters get hung up on "fat calories" for
no reason. Did you know that just because the ground chuck is
the fattiest does not mean it's the worst.
In fact,
I have noticed great weight loss results from eating all
three cuts.
What most people do not understand is
that eating fattier cuts of meat can actually help you burn fat.
Why? For one, it fires up your metabolism.
Makes it burn hotter.
Just ask a top
bodybuilder.
Chances are you'll be shocked by what
they tell you!
The other benefit to the calories in
hamburger besides the fantastic protein and fat ratio, is that it's
cheap.
I mean, if you are trying to lose weight and
are on a budget, then it can be a great choice. Just mix some
with brown rice and you have a great weight loss mean.
Now.
I'm not saying you should indulge yourself here.
This is red meat and moderation is important. My
only point is that it can be excellent for weight loss provided that it's consumed correctly.
