Ok.
So recently I got asked a question about body type dieting.
Specifically...
The
question was - "Do I think it works?"
My answer just
may surprise you. I know for a fact, that there will be many
experts who disagree. Perhaps even get offended.
But such is life.
I'm here to give you my
honest opinion and I'm not about to dilute it now to please some
"holier than though" guru.
Ok. So without
getting into too much of a dieting rant here.
The
truth is simple...
If your goal is simply to lose
weight then every diet works.
That's right.
I said it!
All diets are built on the
concept of "cutting caloric intake". I don't care if it's
carb restriction, fat elimination or a pure vegetable diet... the basic
foundation of any diet is to cut the amount of calories you consume.
AKA - Restrict food intake.
As a result...
Odds
are very good that you'll lose weight.
It's only
common sense. Less food = less weight. At least in
most cases.
All that those who have coined the
concept of "body type dieting" have done, is come up with a new way to
conceal the fact that you will be limiting your food intake.
According
to the manual on the new trendy body type diets...
...
The motif behind the diet is just as the name states... feeding people
different foods according to the type of body they supposedly have.
Apparently
this is supposed to work better than the traditional programs.
But
here's my problem...
Actually I have two problems.
1.
It's still dieting.
And as such, the
results will NEVER be sustainable. Listen. Anything
built on calorie restriction is not sustainable. What do you
think happens when you eat normal again?
The weight
comes back!
2. I am a firm believer that
in general... good weight loss food is good weight loss food and the
human body will respond excellent.
Last time I
checked... we are all made of flesh and blood.
What
I mean is simple...
I am of the opinion that there
is in fact... a certain way to eat that allows you to lose weight
without dieting... and not gain it back.
And from
what I've personally witnessed, it works for all people.
I
think that the concept of body type dieting sounds good... but in the
end, it amounts to nothing more than fluff.
The
bottom line is simple...
As long as there is money
to be made in dieting, companies must continue to invent new diets.
Just remember, every diet is built on the same foundation and
as such, the weight almost always comes back.
Just
food for thought,
-Jason
P.S.
In case your wondering about the "certain way to eat that
allows you to lose weight without dieting".
