The Best Diet Drug is NOT the Best Option!

There are several companies that claim to produce the "best diet drug".  Regardless of which company sells more weight loss drugs one thing remains...The results are short lived and the side effects are not.

These drugs are placed on the market without knowing all effects. Redux and Poindimin are two such examples. These drugs were taken off the market because it was discovered that they were likely causes of heart valve problems. This was after many people had been taking the drugs!

Types of Weight Loss Drugs

Prescription
Prescription drugs are closely regulated by the FDA. Nearly all prescription weight loss drugs are appetite suppressants. The goal is to make you eat less and therefore lose weight.

Lipase inhibitors are not as common as appetite suppressant, but are becoming more popular with time. These drugs are designed to stop your body from absorbing fat.

The problem with both types of prescription drugs is that they block the natural functioning of the body. Being hungry is your bodies signal that it needs more nutrition. Nutrition is not a matter of quantity it is a matter of quality.  You can be getting enough food, while not getting enough nutrition.  Blocking the hunger signal does not eliminate the fact that your body needs more nutrition!

Lipase inhibitors are dangerous because your body needs some fat and any attempt to block absorption of fat is interfering with that need.

Non-prescription
Non-prescriptions are not actually drugs, they are weight loss pills. This is because you can buy them over-the-counter. They are loosely regulated by the food and drug administration.

The most common pills are the fat burners. Many people proclaim these as the "best diet drug". These pills commonly work by stimulating your metabolism. They act much like stimulants, such as amphetamines. This fact should slap you with a big danger sign!
Whether prescription or not, one question needs to be asked by those looking for the best diet drug.

What happens when you stop taking it?

Because these products do not address actual causes of obesity any results experienced are short lived. When you are done taking the "best diet drug" the weight comes quickly back and the side effects remain.
