Is
Your Attitude Keeping You From Easy Weight Loss?
If
there was one thing that I could stress above anything else its that
there is a level beyond the physical realm when it comes to losing
weight.
Weight loss, and health in general for that
matter, has been overwhelmingly wrapped up in the physical...
--
The right diet -- The right exercise -- etc.
And
rightly so these are all very important factors in when it comes losing
weight.
But unfortunately something that many people
don't consider is the power of the unseen.
And to me
this power is all about your inner world.
Your
attitude.
The best definition of attitude that I can
come up with is the following 10 word sentence taken from the Webster
dictionary: "A mental
state or position with regard to a fact."
To
say it another way your attitude is your belief about what is possible
regarding a particular situation.
Perhaps you've
heard the old saying "attitude determines altitude".
Well
from what I've seen, it's absolutely true.
If your
attitude toward losing weight is that it's going to be a long hard
process, then chances are that you're exactly right because you'll find
ways to make it so.
A funny thing about this world
is that what we believe tends to manifest itself.
Now
I'm not here to get into a "spiritual" debate. Your beliefs
are your beliefs. And the truth is that I don't even have to.
There's a way of looking at this inner game called attitude
in a very physical way.
That being that your
attitude will determine your action.
What
you believe about losing weight will determine what you actually do
to lose weight.
Case in point:
Three
years ago I believed that losing weight, especially the ring of fat
around my waist, was a hard process that required a lot of exercise to
accomplish.
So what did I do, I sweat my butt off
each and every day without much success.
My attitude
toward losing weight kept me from trying to find new, easier ways to lose
it.
You could say that I was being held prisoner by
my self-imposed beliefs.
Now it wasn't that these
beliefs were wrong it's just that they came with a set of results that
didn't match what I really wanted.
It wasn't until
my attitude changed that I finally allowed myself to discover that my
diet was the #1 thing that needed to be addressed.
When
my attitude changed my results began to match my desires.
Now
my point in all this is the following:
If losing
weight has been very difficult for you in the past, chances are that
you need to examine what exactly it is that you're believing.
I
just bet you'll find that part of you has negative beliefs about weight
loss that are keeping you from enjoying the results you truly want.
